In
celebration of National Diversity Month in October, we are pleased to welcome
Barbara Giamanco, CEO of Talent Builders,
as our next guest speaker. As the dramatic shift to a highly diverse workplace
continues, organizations know they must help employees understand, accept, and
capitalize on differences, because a discussion of diversity is bigger than just
a focus on gender or the color of our skin. More and more, companies know that
cultural backgrounds and the unique experiences of diverse employees and
customers can enrich the organization, making it more innovative and globally

often when considering the issue of diversity, the focus on “what separates
us” defines the discussion. Instead, Barb believes that it is time to shift
the dialog to a discussion of what unities us. It is time to appreciate and
respect the differences and the similarities that we all share. Diversity is as
much about the diversity of thought and perspective, as it is our gender,
religious beliefs or the color of our skin. Each of us brings a unique
perspective of the world into the workplace through our cultural backgrounds and
experiences. Now is the time to realize that we each have the power to

people (confidentially) explore their own viewpoints on workforce diversity in
four key areas: •
Examine what they know about differences and learn where the information comes
from.
Barbara
resides in Metro Atlanta, and enjoys hiking with her dogs, Shorty (a
Retriever-Shepard mix) and Murphy (a black lab). She
is an active member of her community where she served as the 2006-2007 Chairman
for the Advisory Council of Congressman Tom Price, M.D. In 2005, Barb served as
Business and Economy Committee Chair for Congressman Price. Barb is an alumni
member of Leadership Sandy Springs. She has served as Chairman of the Board for
Keep Sandy Springs North Fulton Beautiful, Board Member of the Sandy Springs
Business Association, member of the Sandy Springs Civic Roundtable and
Co-Founder of the Vintage Affair, an annual charity event benefiting the |
